Itinerary

DAY 1:

ARRIVAL IN LIMA

Upon arriving in Lima, the capital of Peru, you’ll be greeted by our representative at Jorge Chavez International Airport. From there, you’ll enjoy a private transfer to your selected hotel for a restful overnight stay.

Begin your day with a guided tour of Lima, often referred to as the “City of Kings.” The tour includes visits to significant landmarks such as the historic center, Republican Square of San Martin, and the famous Plaza de Armas (505 ft or 154 m). You’ll also explore the Convent of San Francisco and its fascinating catacombs. The tour continues into the modern district of Miraflores, where you can relax in the Park of Love and enjoy breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The entire tour lasts approximately four hours.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco (11,152 ft or 3,399 m). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. Spend the day exploring Cusco’s key attractions, starting with Plaza San Cristóbal, which offers a stunning panoramic view of the city. Next, visit the bustling San Pedro Market, then the awe-inspiring Temple of Koricancha, and the Church of Santo Domingo. You will also stroll down Hatun Rumiyoc Street to see the famous Twelve-Angle Stone.

The tour continues with visits to nearby ruins, including Sacsayhuamán (12,142 ft or 3,700 m), the Qenqo ceremonial center, Puca Pucará (11,810 ft or 3,600 m), and Tambomachay, known for its impressive stonework and water features.

Today, you’ll visit Maras, a traditional Andean town situated at 10,827 ft (3,300 m), offering breathtaking views of the Urubamba mountain range. You’ll then head to the archaeological terraces of Moray, an ancient Incan agricultural site with circular terraces built into natural depressions.

Next, explore the famous Maras Salt Mines, where you’ll see over 3,000 small salt ponds that have been used since Incan times for salt extraction.

Embark on a scenic train ride to the town of Aguas Calientes (6,693 ft or 2,040 m), the gateway to Machu Picchu. As the train passes through the majestic Andes, enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding mountains and rivers.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you’ll be transferred to your selected hotel, where you can unwind and prepare for the adventure that awaits at Machu Picchu.

Early in the morning, you will take a bus ride to Machu Picchu, followed by a hike to Huayna Picchu (8,920 ft or 2,720 m). This climb offers incredible views and insight into the Inca civilization. The hike is limited to 200 visitors per day, so it’s a unique experience.

Afterward, you will embark on a guided tour of Machu Picchu, visiting iconic sites such as the Temple of the Moon, the Temple of the Condor, and the Principal Temple. You’ll also visit Inti Punku, or the Sun Gate, which provides an exceptional vantage point over the ruins.

In the afternoon, you’ll return to Cusco by train, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel.

Transfer to Cusco’s airport for your flight back to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, you’ll be picked up and transferred to your selected hotel for your final night in Peru.

To qualify for the student discount on Inca Trail Permits, travelers must meet the following requirements:

  • Age Limit: Students must be 25 years old or younger at the time of entering the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. Those over 25 years old cannot enter as a student.
  • ID Requirements: The student ID must include:
    • The name of the university
    • The student’s name and photo
    • A valid expiration date
  • ISIC CARD: This card type is no longer valid anymore

Invalid Student IDs for the Inca Trail Discount

Student IDs will not be accepted for the discount under the following conditions:

  • The traveler is older than 25
  • The ID is expired
  • The ID does not have an expiration date

You will interact with local people, explore incredible sites, and rediscover ancient Inca ancestral towns. Our porters carry your gear, prepare your meals, set up our camp tents, and take care of you while you relax.

We provide our porters for free with: jackets, sun hats, warm hats, shirts, pants, hiking boots, comfortable travel bags, canteens, back support belts, sleeping bags, mattresses, and travel insurance. All are hired from isolated communities, improving their economic circumstances and supporting the education of their children. We treat all our porters like family!

  • Air mattresses: Available for rent for $20 USD.
  • Kitchen and dining tents: Used as a meeting room during meals, ideal for relaxing and chatting.
  • Tables and chairs: In the dining area, adapted to the day’s weather.
  • Travel bags: Provided the night before the trek.
  • Others: Pillows, rain covers for backpacks, survival shirts, and chemical toilets are provided during the trek.
