Itinerary

DAY 1:

Arrival and First Day at Amazon Garden Lodge: Exploring the Rainforest and Caiman Safari

Reception at the airport. Transfer to our office located in the city of Puerto Maldonado. Luggage which you don’t need during your stay in the Rainforest can be kept in our storage room to facilitate the transport. Embarkment at the port “Puerto de Capitanía” towards our Lodge: 40 minutes of  navigation on the Madre de Dios river.

Arrival at the facilities of the Amazon Garden Lodge, where you will be received with a refreshment of natural fruit of the season. Your guide will  give you the necessary information for your stay and hand over the keys to your bungalow and security safe, followed by the lunch and some time to rest until the first excursion. 3:30 pm:

Departure for your first contact with the Rainforest. Your guide will show you tropical trees, medicinal plants and the exuberant nature of the 60-hectare-area of Amazon Garden Lodge. A short stop at a viewpoint where toucans and other birds can be spotted.

The duration of this hike is 2 to 3 hours. Back at the Lodge, you can relax at the pool or in the hammocks on the terrace of your bungalow, savor an exotic cocktail at the bar, enjoy a relaxing massage by our qualified staff

Visit our shop for a handcrafted souvenir of the Rainforest or head to the riverside to view the breathtaking sunset. 7:00 pm: “Caiman Safari”. Before dinner, we will leave for a nocturnal boat trip to observe caimans and, with a bit of luck, other animals which populate the riverbank.

ll then stop at a rest area, a typical construction for the region with hammocks, lavatories and a bar, where you can eat breakfast

Rest and collect your strength for the way back to the landing stage and the continuation of the journey to Monkey Island.

On Monkey Island, about 5 species of monkeys live in the wild. The animals are used to visitors and can come very close.

Therefore, it is very important to always follow the instructions of your guide. 1:30 pm: Return to the Lodge for lunch. 3:30 pm: Visit of one of the two lookout towers of Amazon Garden Lodge, with a height of 20 and 42 meters and designed for birdwatching and viewing of other types of animals living at this altitude.

In addition, you will enjoy an incredible view of the sunset. (The guide will consult the guests on their preferences and adapt this excursion accordingly.)

You will then have some free time to enjoy the pool or a massage, get refreshed at the bar or visit our souvenir shop. 8:00 pm: Dinner

Parrots and parakeets need to eat rich clay that provides them with the salts and minerals necessary to metabolize and neutralize the toxins and acids of the flowers, fruits, and seeds upon which they feed.

Early each day, therefore, they congregate at the salt licks, clay walls along the rivers and streams in the Madre de Dios region of the Amazon rainforest.

At about  7:00am we back to the lodge , have breakfast and return to Puerto Maldonado and Drop you off at the Airport or Bus Terminal.

Travel Guide

The Tambopata Jungle Adventure 3 Days is a immersive trip in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. To make the most of this adventure, here are some essential tips, weather advice, dressing recommendations, and preparation ideas to help you get ready for the journey.

Weather On Tambopata

The Amazon rainforest, including the Tambopata Amazon Reserve, has a tropical climate. This means it’s hot and humid throughout the year, with temperatures ranging between 24°C to 32°C (75°F to 90°F). The region experiences heavy rainfall, especially during the wet season (November to April). The dry season (May to October) tends to have less rain, but showers can still happen.

Tip: Prepare for both heat and rain by bringing lightweight, breathable clothes and waterproof gear.

How to Dress for Tambopata Tour

Comfortable, moisture-wicking clothing is key for the 3-Day Tambopata tour. You’ll be trekking through humid jungle paths, so it’s important to stay cool while also protecting yourself from insects and the sun.

  • Upper body: Pack long-sleeve shirts that are light and breathable. This helps protect you from both the sun and bug bites.
  • Lower body: Lightweight, quick-dry pants are perfect for jungle walks. Avoid shorts, as they leave you more exposed to insects.
  • Footwear: Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots are a must. The terrain can be muddy, and you’ll need good traction while exploring the jungle.
  • Accessories: Bring a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen. Insect repellent is essential, as mosquitoes are common in the Tambopata Jungle Amazon 3 Days tour. A lightweight rain jacket or poncho is also helpful for unexpected rain showers.

Physical Preparation for tambopata tour

You don’t need to be in top physical condition for the Tambopata Tour 3 Days, but some light preparation can help. The activities typically involve moderate hiking through jungle trails, canoeing, and wildlife spotting, so being comfortable with walking for a few hours at a time is important.

  • Cardio: Walking or light jogging a few weeks before the trip will help build stamina. Since the environment is humid, it’s good to be prepared for that extra challenge.
  • Acclimatization: There’s no high altitude in Tambopata like in the Andes, but you may need to adjust to the hot and humid conditions. Take it easy and stay hydrated to avoid heat exhaustion.

Restrictions

  • Health: The jungle environment can be tough on people with respiratory issues due to the humidity. If you have any medical conditions, consult with a doctor before embarking on this 3 day in Tambopata Reserve adventure.
  • Vaccinations: It’s recommended to get vaccinated for yellow fever and to take malaria medication before traveling to the Tambopata Amazon Reserve 3 Days. Always check with your healthcare provider for up-to-date advice on vaccines.
  • Age: This tour is generally family-friendly, but some activities may not be suitable for young children or older adults with mobility issues. Be sure to check with your tour provider for specific age recommendations and restrictions.

Other Tips

  • Hydration: Bring a reusable water bottle with a filter, as you’ll need to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated in the heat.
  • Pack light: Since you’ll be moving through the jungle, carrying a small daypack with essentials is ideal. Don’t overload yourself with unnecessary items.
  • Cameras and binoculars: The Tambopata Jungle Adventure 3 Days is a wildlife lover’s dream, so don’t forget your camera or binoculars to capture the stunning birds and animals you’ll see.
  • Cash: Although most things are covered in your tour, having some cash in Peruvian soles for small purchases or tips is a good idea.

By following these recommendations, you’ll be ready to enjoy every moment of your 3-Day Tambopata Tour, exploring the beautiful biodiversity of the Tambopata Amazon Reserve.
