Itinerary

DAY 1:

ARRIVAL IN LIMA

Arrive in Lima, the capital of Peru, where you will be warmly welcomed by our representative at Jorge Chavez International Airport. You will then be privately transferred to your selected hotel, where you can settle in for your first night in this bustling city.

Today, you will explore Lima, known as the City of Kings. Your guided tour begins with a visit to the city’s historical center, where you will see key attractions such as San Martin Square, the iconic Plaza de Armas, and the breathtaking Convent of San Francisco, famous for its catacombs. The tour continues into the modern district of Miraflores, where you can admire the stunning ocean views from the famous Park of Love, perched above the Pacific. This guided tour lasts about four hours, leaving you plenty of time to explore the city on your own afterward.

Start the day with an early transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco (11,152 feet / 3,399 meters). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your selected hotel.

In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a city tour of Cusco, visiting San Cristóbal Plaza for panoramic views of the city, followed by a visit to the San Pedro Market to experience local flavors and culture. Explore the Koricancha Temple and the Church of Santo Domingo, both rich in history. Stroll through the charming San Blas artisan district and marvel at the famous twelve-angled stone in Hatun Rumiyoc Street. You will also visit Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, with its impressive colonial architecture, before heading to the nearby Inca ruins. This includes the mighty fortress of Sacsayhuamán, the ceremonial center of Qenqo, the military lookout tower of Puca Pucará, and the intricately carved stonework of Tambomachay. Overnight in Cusco.

Today, you will trek to the stunning Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), known for its vibrant mineral-colored slopes. The first stop is in Pitumarca (11,811 feet / 3,600 meters), a small Andean town south of Cusco, where you can stock up on supplies. As you journey to the base of the hike, you’ll pass through breathtaking landscapes, with snow-capped peaks and grazing llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas.

The trek begins in Japura (14,189 feet / 4,326 meters), where you will enjoy an Andean breakfast. The hike to Rainbow Mountain takes about 3.5 hours, with views constantly shifting between vibrant mountain hues and glacial streams. Upon reaching the summit at 16,500 feet (5,033 meters), you will have ample time to soak in the scenery and snap photos before descending to Japura for a buffet lunch. Return to Cusco in the evening around 7:00 PM.

Today is free for you to explore Cusco at your own pace. Take the opportunity to relax, visit local shops, or try some of the region’s renowned restaurants and bars.

Explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas, known for its fertile plains and favorable climate. Begin your tour in Pisaq (9,514 feet / 2,900 meters), just an hour’s drive from Cusco. Here, you’ll visit the region’s archaeological ruins and enjoy stunning views of the valley. Continuing through the towns of Coya, Lamay, and Calca along the Vilcanota River, you’ll arrive in Urubamba (9,420 feet / 2,870 meters) for a buffet lunch (not included in the tour). The day finishes with a guided tour of the impressive Ollantaytambo ruins (9,160 feet / 2,792 meters), an Inca stronghold with massive terraces carved into the mountainside.

Start your journey to Machu Picchu with a scenic train ride to Aguas Calientes (6,693 feet / 2,040 meters). The trip offers breathtaking views of the lush forests and rugged mountains that line the way to the lost city of the Incas. Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for the night.

Today, rise early for a bus ride to the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu (7,972 feet / 2,430 meters). After a 20-minute drive, you’ll reach the base of Wayna Picchu (8,920 feet / 2,720 meters), also known as Huayna Picchu. Climbing this mountain offers spectacular views of Machu Picchu below, with only 200 visitors allowed each day.

You will then enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu’s most important sites, including the Temple of the Moon, the Temple of the Condor, the Temple of Three Windows, and the Sacred Sun Dial. Don’t miss the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), a natural viewpoint with stunning vistas of the surrounding peaks.

In the afternoon, you’ll return to Cusco by train, arriving at your selected hotel for an overnight stay.

Spend another relaxing day in Cusco at your leisure. You can take this time to explore more of the city’s vibrant markets, artisan shops, or simply unwind at your hotel.

Travel along the “Route of the Sun” from Cusco to Puno (12,556 feet / 3,827 meters), with several exciting stops along the way. You will visit the Church of San Pedro in Andahuaylillas (10,010 feet / 3,051 meters), famous for its ornate gold-filled interior, often called the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.”

Next, stop at the impressive Raqchi ruins (10,597 feet / 3,225 meters), home to the Temple of Wiracocha, an enormous structure dedicated to the Andean deity. Afterward, enjoy a buffet lunch in Marangani (11,654 feet / 3,552 meters), surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Continue on to La Raya Pass (14,232 feet / 4,338 meters), the highest point of your journey, before visiting the Pucará Museum (12,795 feet / 3,900 meters), known for its ancient monolithic sculptures.

Arrive in Puno in the evening and transfer to your selected hotel for an overnight stay.

Today, embark on a full-day excursion on Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake (12,507 feet / 3,812 meters). Your first stop is the Uros Floating Islands, home to the indigenous Uros people who have lived on reed islands for centuries. You’ll learn about their traditional lifestyle before continuing to Taquile Island, where a scenic hike leads to the main square.

After exploring Taquile, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, often featuring fresh trout from the lake. Return by boat to Puno in the late afternoon for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, transfer to Juliaca Airport for your flight back to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, you’ll be picked up and transferred to your hotel, where you can relax for your final night in Peru.
