Itinerary

DAY 1:

ARRIVAL IN LIMA

Arrive in Lima, the bustling capital of Peru. Upon arrival at Jorge Chavez International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and privately transferred to your chosen hotel, where you can rest for the night.

  • Meals: None.

Start your day with a guided tour exploring Lima, known as the “City of Kings.” Highlights of the tour include the historic center, the Republican Square of San Martin, and the famous Plaza de Armas (505 ft or 154 m). You’ll also visit the Convent of San Francisco, known for its intricate catacombs. The tour concludes with a visit to the modern Miraflores district, where you can relax in the Park of Love, enjoying views of the Pacific Ocean. The tour lasts about four hours.

  • Meals: Breakfast.

After breakfast, you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco (11,152 ft or 3,399 m). Upon arrival, take the rest of the day to explore Cusco at your own pace, wandering through its shops, cafes, and restaurants.

  • Meals: Breakfast.

Start early as you head toward Pitumarca, a town south of Cusco. This is a quick stop to stock up on any essentials like water or snacks before continuing your journey. As you drive, enjoy stunning landscapes featuring multicolored mountains, snow-capped peaks, and local wildlife such as llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas.

Around 6:30 a.m., you’ll reach Japura (14,189 ft or 4,325 m), where you’ll have a hearty Andean breakfast prepared by your chef. From here, you’ll begin the three-hour trek toward Rainbow Mountain, or Vinicunca (16,466 ft or 5,033 m), where you can take in the stunning views of the famous multicolored peaks.

After spending time at the summit, you’ll trek back to Japura for lunch before returning to Cusco in the evening.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.

Today, you’ll embark on one of South America’s most scenic train rides to the town of Aguas Calientes (6,693 ft or 2,040 m), the gateway to Machu Picchu. The train journey offers stunning views of the Andean mountains and jungle scenery.

Machu Picchu remained hidden from the world for centuries, partly due to its remote and elevated location. The town of Aguas Calientes is just a short bus ride away from the famous site. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Aguas Calientes for an overnight stay.

  • Meals: Breakfast.

Early in the morning, you’ll take a bus up the steep road to the ancient Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu. For those up to the challenge, you can also hike to the top of Huayna Picchu (8,920 ft or 2,720 m), which offers incredible panoramic views of the surrounding area. The number of visitors to Huayna Picchu is limited to 200 per day, so booking early is essential.

Afterward, enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu, exploring key sites like the Temple of the Moon, the Great Cavern, and the Temple of the Sun. You’ll also visit the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), a stunning vantage point with a perfect view of Machu Picchu.

In the afternoon, return by train to Cusco, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel for the night.

  • Meals: Breakfast.

In the morning, transfer to Cusco’s airport for your flight back to Lima. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for your final night in Peru.
