DAY 1:

ARRIVAL IN LIMA

Arrive in Lima, the capital of Peru. Upon arrival at Jorge Chavez International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our representative and privately transferred to your chosen hotel for the night. Enjoy your first evening in the vibrant city of Lima.

Today, explore the “City of Kings,” starting with a guided tour of Lima’s historical center and Miraflores district. The tour will include top attractions such as San Martin Square, the Plaza de Armas, and the San Francisco Convent, famous for its catacombs. The journey continues to the modern area of Miraflores, where you’ll visit the romantic Park of Love with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. The entire city tour lasts approximately four hours. Afterward, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel, with the remainder of the day free to relax or explore on your own.

Today, you’ll delve into Arequipa (7,660 feet / 2,335 meters), a city recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. Arequipa’s unique charm comes from its mix of Spanish and native cultures, evident in the city’s iconic white volcanic stone architecture. During the guided tour, you’ll visit Santa Catalina Monastery, which spans an entire block and features beautiful architecture. You’ll also explore the grand Plaza de Armas and its imposing cathedral. The city feels like an open-air museum of “sillar” architecture, with its striking white stone buildings. Overnight in Arequipa.

Begin your trip to Chivay (11,910 feet / 3,630 meters) and the spectacular Colca Valley. Along the way, stop at the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve to spot wildlife like vicuñas, llamas, and alpacas. You’ll also stop at the Volcanoes Lookout Point, where you can see towering volcanoes such as Misti, Chachani, and Sabancaya, all over 16,404 feet (5,000 meters) in height. Upon reaching Chivay, you’ll have the chance to visit the local thermal baths for a relaxing soak. Overnight in Chivay.

Enjoy a full-day excursion through the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world. Stop in traditional Andean villages like Yanque, Maca, and Pinchollo, perfect for photos and short visits. The highlight of the day is visiting the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, where you can witness the majestic Andean condors soaring above the canyon. Afterward, return to Chivay, where you’ll have time to relax and explore the village or visit the thermal baths again. Overnight in Chivay.

Embark on a journey by private car to the Llachon Peninsula (12,139 feet / 3,700 meters). Along the way, you’ll pass picturesque towns and the serene Lagunillas Lagoon, where you might spot trout farms and Andean flamingos. One of the highlights is visiting the ancient burial towers of Sillustani, known for their perfect cylindrical design. If time allows, you can take an optional tour of Sillustani, offering a glimpse into pre-Inca civilizations and stunning views of Umayo Lagoon.

Upon arriving in Llachon, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views of Lake Titicaca. Enjoy short hikes to nearby hills with panoramic lookout points and ancient ceremonial sites. Next, take a short boat ride to Ticonata Island, where archaeological discoveries like funeral baskets and mummies are on display at the island’s Tiahuanaco Museum. Overnight in a homestay with the local community in Llachon.

Today’s adventure takes you to the island of Taquile on Lake Titicaca (12,507 feet / 3,812 meters). After docking, you’ll enjoy a scenic walk along a narrow path with views of the lake and traditional Quechua homes. You’ll have free time to explore Taquile’s main square before having lunch at a local restaurant, where grilled trout is a popular option.

After lunch, you’ll head to the famous Uros Floating Islands, made entirely from reeds. These islands are home to the Uros people, who live a traditional lifestyle in this unique floating environment. After your visit, return to Puno (12,556 feet / 3,827 meters) for an overnight stay.

Journey along the “Route of the Sun” from Puno to Cusco (11,152 feet / 3,399 meters), a nearly 400-kilometer route dotted with incredible tourist attractions. Your first stop is Pucará (12,795 feet / 3,900 meters), known for its fertility temple and Pucará Museum, which offers insights into Andean civilization.

Next, stop at La Raya Pass (14,232 feet / 4,338 meters), the highest point along the route, offering stunning Andean landscapes. Enjoy a buffet lunch in Sicuani (11,654 feet / 3,552 meters), followed by a visit to the impressive Raqchi ruins, home to the Wiracocha Temple. Finally, explore Andahuaylillas, known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.” Arrive in Cusco around 5:00 PM and transfer to your hotel for the night.

Spend a leisurely morning in Cusco, then in the afternoon, discover Cusco’s iconic attractions. Visit San Cristóbal Plaza for panoramic views of the city, followed by a visit to the bustling San Pedro Market. Admire the stunning Koricancha Temple and the Church of Santo Domingo, built on top of Inca foundations. Stroll through San Blas, Cusco’s artisan district, and visit the famous twelve-angled stone on Hatun Rumiyoc Street.

Outside the city, explore the impressive Sacsayhuamán fortress, the Qenqo ceremonial site, and Puca Pucará, a military tower offering scenic views. End the tour at Tambomachay, a site known for its intricate stonework and significance in Andean cosmology. Overnight in Cusco.

Start your day with a tour of the Sacred Valley (9,186 feet / 2,800 meters), a vital region for the Incas known for its fertile lands and strategic location. Visit the town of Pisaq (9,514 feet / 2,900 meters) and its impressive archaeological site, followed by a journey through the villages of Coya, Lamay, and Calca along the Vilcanota River.

After lunch in Urubamba, you’ll explore the Ollantaytambo ruins before heading to Santa Teresa (5,167 feet / 1,575 meters) via Abra Malaga Pass (14,160 feet / 4,316 meters), where you’ll see stunning landscapes, including the snow-capped Veronica Mountain. Arriving in Santa Teresa, you can enjoy a soothing soak in the Colcamayo thermal baths, known for their crystal-clear waters. Overnight in Santa Teresa.

Start the day with a short car ride to the Hydroelectric Station near Machu Picchu. From there, you have the option to take a scenic three-hour walk along the tracks to Aguas Calientes (6,693 feet / 2,040 meters), also known as Machu Picchu Town. Alternatively, you can take a 20-minute train ride to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll settle into your hotel for the night. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the town.

Early in the morning, board a bus for the 20-minute ride up to the famous Machu Picchu Citadel (7,972 feet / 2,430 meters). After climbing the 6 kilometers to the site, you’ll explore Huayna Picchu (8,920 feet / 2,720 meters), also called Wayna Picchu. Only 200 people are allowed to climb this sacred peak each day, and the reward is breathtaking views of Machu Picchu and the surrounding area.

Your guided tour of Machu Picchu will include highlights such as the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Moon, and the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), a stunning vantage point. You’ll also visit the Great Cavern, Temple of the Condor, and the Sacred Sun Dial. Afterward, you’ll return to Aguas Calientes for the night.
