These two days are filled with breathtaking natural wonders in Cusco’s South Valley.

Itinerary

DAY 1:

4 Lakes – Pampamarca (Canoeing, Kayaking, Mountain Biking)

Your adventure kicks off with an early 4 a.m. hotel pickup. We drive towards Acomayo province to reach our first destination, Pomacanchi Lake, renowned for its diverse native aquatic life. Next, we bike to the second lake, Acopia (20km – flat), known for its distinctive bird species like Flamingos, Andean Ibis, and Puna Teals. Enjoy birdwatching or simply soaking in the lake’s serene beauty before savoring a gourmet lunch prepared by our chef at our Pampamarca campsite.

In the afternoon, engage in canoeing and kayaking. As night falls, return to camp for a delicious dinner and enjoy the clear, starry sky. Your guide will share insights about Inca Constellations and their role in guiding agricultural cycles.

Accommodation: Campsite

Following an early breakfast, we drive 35 minutes to Quehue, home to the ancient Inca rope bridge. Marvel at its intricate design and, if you dare, cross the bridge! Despite its delicate appearance, the grass ropes are remarkably strong. You’ll also get to enjoy views of the Apurimac River. Return to the campsite for an early lunch.

Next, head to the Palcoyo trailhead, approximately 1.3 hours away. After a brief rest, take a short, gentle hike (30-45 minutes) to Palcoyo Pass (5000m/16,400ft). From here, revel in panoramic views of Rainbow Mountain and Palcoyo peaks, along with Ausangate, the highest mountain in the Cusco region at 6,384m/20,945ft. Spend about an hour at the pass taking photos, having a snack, and enjoying the stunning scenery before retracing your steps. Take private transport back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel by 7 p.m.
